I hear this from Cali on a daily basis. Two weeks ago she started swimming lessons with a lady named Pam. I was a bit apprehensive to start this with her, but figured I would at least try my luck and see how Cali responded. The first week was pretty "typical", or so Pam said. In fact, the first day Cali got right in and was loving it. The poor girl didn't know what was coming on day two though. I should mention that the swim lessons teach on survival techniques which involves swimming to the sides of the pool or the steps and learning how to flip over on to your back in order to float. The lesson are extremely short, only ten minutes. Day one was all about getting cali used to Pam and the water, which was fun to Cali. Day two on the other hand started exploring turning over to her back and diving for rings on the stairs. Now don't be alarmed. This could sound a bit torturous for a 2 1/2 yr old, but let me assure you...Pam at this point was basically holding her and guiding her through the entire ten minutes. It wasn't until this past Monday, the start of week three, that Pam started to let go. Getting back to day two....Cali pretty much cried the entire ten minutes and didn't want to go back the next day. I don't blame her, seemed tough! Day three didn't seem much better but day four was actually a big improvement. Like I said we are now on week three of her five week training and she is LOVING it!!! In fact, the training is only Mon-Thurs and last Friday when we were driving home from Cali's school and didn't go straight to Pam's she flipped out. This week Cali is already starting to float on her on and for the past few sessions has not made a single cry! I am soooo proud of her! Way to go Cali. You are on your way to becoming our first little fish:)
